Time to teach the Wounded Warriors again....April 17th is the Spring Muster.....while our soldiers are recovering and healing, they need activities to keep them busy. Last year we taught MANY to knit/crochet and spin and they not only excelled, as all soldiers do, but they thoroughly enjoyed it. We gave each soldier a gift bag (and one for their spouse or daughter if they so chose) Each bag had a thank you card written from a citizen and a skein of yarn or two. A crochet hook/or knitting needles.......or a drop spindle with fiber. Lessons were given right there on the spot....and it was a wonderful evening. Please send Donations to

My First Skein on the Fantasia!

Most of my spinning has been done on a drop spindle....and some on a Louet....without a lot of success on my part....but with the Fantasia, I am finding I really CAN spin!!! This is my first skein, and with Scott's help my first true plied yarn. I AM NOW CAPABLE OF SITTING DOWN "AND FROM START TO FINISH" MAKE YARN! It's the little things that make our little fiber world rock! THANK YOU SCOTT for your patience and lessons!

Greatest MOMENTS OF 2011....part 1

EMILY AND ROSIE AND THE REVEAL OF HER CHICKEN SWEATER!

This young knitter made a chicken sweater for her first project! Well done Emily.....

Rosie wears this well! Rosie has made more than one cameo appearance!

Photogenic too!

Thank you Chanin and Emily!!!

Arizona to Iowa............familiar territory!

Are we in ARIZONA????             Nah..Toto, we are in IOWA!

We left Arizona and it's Saguaro Laden mountains...in search of greener land and cooler temps only to find ourselves most comfortable in familiar surroundings! Western Towns, cowboys and reminders of days gone past!

These photos were taken in Pioneer Park Village...just a few minutes from where we live in IOWA.
We really like this place so much that we will be demonstrating again here in the Spring.

What are we demonstrating??? Well............it's not gunfighting.....
It's certainly not fashion!!! Although that was fun!

It wasn't farming......
Nor housekeeping! Actually I could live here with a few plumbing modifications!

It was to Demonstrate Fiber Arts......Spinning, hand carding and Drop Spindle.....and Lizzy demonstrated...
KNITTING..........Lizzy has embraced our love of Fiber Arts and really enjoys knitting. We had a wonderful time doing this demonstration and we miss Lizzy much since she has moved to Wisconsin.
There are many events going on in Pioneer Village....a great place to take the kids and remember what it was like for the early settlers that paved our way, and endured many hardships we could not imagine! Thank you Pioneer Village for this experience.
